The Revenge of the East
ike a three sided diamond that holds together three of the worlds hardest surfaces and that, with the most profound accuracy, force them into an Edge, so will this story tell itself as a perfect pyramid in the historical dimension of time space inevitably enclosing itself in the End. The End always represents a Beginning. A Beginning always an End.
he End always comes unpleasant and uninvited. Like the surprise of Wind before a storm. To let yourself blow with the Wind is the art of Living, every human beings biggest challenge. The Wind of unresistable events. But also the Wind of Fortuna. Accepting its presence, but still, like a fish in a stream, operate fiercely within. How sad cannot life be, if you believe you know the Wind. How depressing cannot life be, if you think you know its next move. How miserable cannot life be, if you think you can change the Stream. How many lifetimes have not been wasted on this hybris. And how many lifetimes have not past by in pain.
he humbleness of being, that is sought in all religions, that is sought in most beliefs, is not part of what is called the West, that expands and penetrates like how rainwater washes away the soil. A trademark that forces its thinking on to huge new markets. The revolting and fiercely striving new indivdual creates its position in society by resisting humbleness. By rejecting the presence of the Winds. By denying the force of the Streams. The western hybris is the End of human Being. Yet
a Beginning.
aradoxically, the character of our diamonds first surface is named Eden. Perhaps a silent revolt by the previous generation, perhaps uncounciously given without any other thoughts than its claim of pureness. In that case, the Garden of Eden has become an artificial projection of what the world of computer science will bring. Eden is a Computer Programmer in a company providing banking corporporations computer communication software for international trade and stock exchange. The advances (a term that suggests the possibility of a reachable goal, a garden of eden) in information technology and the simultanously tighter economic cooperation and powerful and mandated international organisations, constitutes the prime tools for efficient penetration of market economy (in short, the West) onto new territorium (the East), with the banner of democracy and human rights strategically set up in the diplomatic front. Eden is a brick in a bigger project that is unconciously heading somewhere, a direction impossible to predict because of its millions of actors, presented as companies, corporations, political bodies and organisations. A grand project designed by nobody and everyone. Forcing an End to come. And
a Beginning to rise. Violently. Second surface.
aqoobs left eye looks another way, into another world, reminding him of the dacoits that without much provocation can cause such a damage upon the life of a human being. Even the inhuman act of his oppressors is he willing to forgive, to accept and to bear. One day his purity of heart will pay back, inshallah! Meanwhile his guesthouse for foreign travellers (low budget backpacker tourists) generates what he and his employees need for their slow and highly social life.
or northern Pakistan, the tourists that stays in Yaqoobs guesthouse are representatives from the west, embassadors. For their home country they are either lost young people that could not handle the immense carriere pressure or they are in the process of making a carriere by adding advanced overland travels to their adventurous reportoir. The first category is the biggest and the most sustainable in time (they end up travelling for years), while people like Eden was part of the indignious latter. The guesthouse was a battleplace in which the three different worlds fought for common social grounds, that mostly failed to be based upon anything else than the experience of travel as such. Third and last surface.
he setting, the time and place, in which the edge suddenly appears and abruptable happens. The end and therefore a beginning. In repeted confrontations with the others, Eden lost his world. That is the power of the east over the West. Violent
revenge. Like only the mental struggle of human intellect can be. Forcefully. Only like the Wind can. The force that causes a social being to fall. Deep.
nto a realising sleep that never ends, but represents the end. Like a Rashkolnikov that falls onto mother earth on his knees in front of a prostitute begging for forgiveness. And
for sleep. How deliberate the End is.
